Volunteer Corps Nepal has provided emergency relief support to the 20 households destroyed by fire in Gamgadhi, Mugu. The relief was allocated through financial support of Sowers Action, Hong Kong, China.
Relief comprised of cash support of NPR 2,000, food items (a packet of rice (25 Kg), 2 Kg of daal, 2 liters of cooking oil, and 1 Kg salt), and non-food items [1 blanket and hygiene products (1 hand washing soap, 1 dish washing soap,1 tooth paste and five toothbrushes)] per family.
The fire started on Monday midnight and was brought under control at 6 am. 20 houses were completely destroyed by the fire, causing the loss of millions of properties. The province government has announced aid for the impacted families.
The relief distribution by VCN was carried out in the presence of Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat, DSP Khum K.C. (Armed Police Force), Representative of National Investigation Department Dil Bahadur Chaudhary, President of VCN Mr. Deepak Chapagain, vice president of VCN Mrs. Radha Matangi and volunteers on Sunday morning 21st November 2021. The distribution was carried out from District Administrative Office, Gamgadhi, Mugu. Prior to this, VCN team had carried out a rapid assessment of the destroyed houses and displaced families on Saturday, 20th November 2021.
