The Corona Virus, which has sickened more than 9 millions of people and has killed more than 479,000 people globally, has affected sporting events across the world, as per the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
Major sports events around the world are being cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The outbreak of the coronavirus has serious impact on a number of Marathon events in places where the spread of the virus has been most deadly.
The London Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on April 26,has been postponed until October 4.
The Boston Marathon, originally scheduled for April 20 and later postponed for five months, has been cancelled for the first time in its 124-year history.
Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona marathons have also been postponed.
In Japan on March 1, the Tokyo Marathon, which usually attracts 300,000 participants, was restricted to only 200.
