A group of ‘high-profile’ businesspersons who were gambling at Gangaur Regency Boutique Hotel in Kamaladi of Kathmandu was arrested by the police on Monday night. The police informed that they found only a few coins and Rs 277,000 in cash which was used in the game which has turned the investigation tricky.
The businessmen who were arrested were Ram Chandra Sanghai, Ashok Agrawal, Purushottam Agrawal, Suresh Agrawal, Govinda Agrawal, Nanda Sharma, Bimal Khetan, Bimal Abuja, and Nikki Jogai. Nikki Jogai is the owner of the hotel, Sanghai is the managing director of Sanghai, Ashok Agrawal is the managing director of the Vishal Group.
The Metropolitan Police Circle in Durbarmarg has passed the case to the command of DSP Ranjan Dahal. as the team removed only a small amount of money, the police are confused about how to proceed with the investigation.
The statement of one of the officials was, “In casino-style gambling, they exchange cash with such coins. After the game, they count the coins and calculate the money.” Nonetheless, they will try to decode the 171 coins and reveal the exact amount of money used in the game. Meanwhile, some officials also reported that they have been pressured to release the ones who got arrested.
