Where the virus is spread all over the world, it has not left India untouched with its poisonous effect. India has now been 12th nation to report 78000+ COVID- 19 cases. There was a drastic increase in the number of cases in the past two days in India. The death number due to the pandemic virus was 2550+. Talking about the recoveries, it’s 26400.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra disclosed 1,495 new COVID-19 cases which were the highest number of cases that emerged in one day. There were 54 deaths, and 40 of them were from Mumbai alone. Additionally, the Health Department official said the virus-infected cases have now reached to 25,922 in number and the death toll to 975.
The COVID-19 cases emerging in higher numbers are because of aggressive testing of high-risk contacts, said Civic officials. Furthermore, state and BMC health officials also mentioned the reason behind that the spread of this virus is due to the lack of physical distancing in densely populated areas in Mumbai.
Also, the news of people in slums from Mumbai is also getting affected by the virus. Dharavi, India’s largest slum, has nearly 1000 cases where the population is expected to be 354,166 people per square km, according to BMC population data.
